A recruitment advertising campaign that went into some of the large newspapers in the eastern states of Australia such as the Sydney Morning Herald. The aim was to help fill a large gap in a construction workforce as Fortescue set out to embark on expansion to 155mtpa. The company needed to literally triple in size in a matter of a few years.
The campaign consisted of three half page ads, ran one after the other over three weeks early in the new year.
I took the photo of Andrew Forrest, CEO at the time (now Chairman) for the first advertisement directly below, whilst on a media tour at the Cloudbreak minesite. He appears in all three of the advertisements as a consistent theme because of his big and friendly personality. The website had thousands of hits and applications from all over Australia and throughout the world.
